Frosty The Snowman On Hope, Imagination, And Living Your Motto

Dona Rice & Diana Herweck

Send us a text

What if belief came before proof—and that shift changed how you move through every season of life? We invited Frosty the Snowman to share a surprisingly grounded take on hope, resilience, and the quiet power of imagination. The result is part cozy holiday story, part life school: a conversation that blends warm nostalgia with practical wisdom you can use long after the snow melts.

Frosty opens up about rolling with the changes, describing how he adapts to the world’s weather and treats every transition as a “now, not a forever.” We talk about reframing hard moments, choosing to see setbacks as temporary, and trusting that cooler days return. From there, we dive into the love and empathy he sees in younger generations—why access to many voices has made room for more understanding—and how trust and openness build real connection across cultures. He offers a memorable image for personal growth: each of us is shaped by the people we meet, like a snowman rolling up unique snowflakes as we go.

Two mottos anchor the episode: live your life to the fullest and make a difference, and be who you needed when you were younger. Frosty shares how he’s showing up for his 10-year-old self, turning mentorship into both healing and service. We round things out with rapid-fire fun—favorite walk-in music, a mindset-shifting book, the movie that sparks year-round joy—and a simple legacy he hopes to leave behind: a smile that lingers.

If you’re looking for holiday inspiration, emotional resilience, and a fresh mindset for the new year, this one will warm you like a scarf and hot cocoa. Listen, share with a friend who needs a lift, and subscribe to keep the hope rolling. Got a motto you live by? Tell us yours in a review.

SPEAKER_02:

Welcome to Soul Sisteries. Oh my gosh, that was just one of my favorite conversations so far. I mean, unfilled with all the holiday hope and magic right now. And I can't wait for everybody to hear from our special guest.

SPEAKER_01:

Yes, I know. It's Frosty the Snowman, guys. We got to talk with Frosty the Snowman today.

SPEAKER_02:

Listen in. Here we go.

SPEAKER_01:

Our next guest needs no introduction. You all know him as a beloved holiday character with a jolly personality and magical charm. He is brought to life by a silk top hat, and he laughs, plays, and brings joy to everyone he meets with his button nose, coal eyes, and corncob pipe. He is a favorite among children and adults alike. His story is a timeless part of winter traditions, capturing the spirit of the season with warmth, wonder, and a touch of magic. Join us as we talk with Frosty the snowman.

SPEAKER_00:

Gosh, what a warm intro. I almost melted a little bit there.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, we got to keep you nice and frosty for the season, Frosty. Thank you for joining us.

SPEAKER_00:

Thank you for having me. You know, it's been a little chilly up here.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. Yeah. Well, good thing, right? You need it to be a little bit chilly.

SPEAKER_00:

I needed your warmth. I needed your warmth.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, Frosty, you're the best. You're the best. I remember first learning about you with that great holiday special that's on every year that showed me the story of Frosty. And then, of course, that great song that is sung. Is that pretty accurate, that song about how you came to be?

SPEAKER_00:

Well, I think it is pretty, pretty accurate. You know, I think the most touching part about it is it touches on the warmth of imagination. And that's really what the magic comes from is the imagination of the young people or whoever decides that they want a little frosty in their life.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh my gosh. So are you like a little bit like Tinkerbell that you live through the imagination of the children and like the spirit of the children?

SPEAKER_00:

You know the phrase, if you believe, that's all you gotta do is believe.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh, Frosty, I believe. I believe. And it's not the seeing is believing. It's that if you believe, you're going to see.

SPEAKER_00:

Exactly.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

Wow. Wow. So, Frosty, here you are. You're getting ready because the the chilly season is upon us. So this is your time for sure. But other parts of the year are kind of warm. And, you know, from the story, you you melt during those times, but then you come back again. Is that is that what happens? Or do you like tell tell us what what do you do?

SPEAKER_00:

Well, Frosty always lives year-round, you know. There's always a little bit of coldness hidden somewhere. And again, it's it's where the imagination lies. And you gotta roll with the changes that come in the way.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh my God, Frosty, that's so great you just said that because you know, we always in Soul Sistories we talk about our hope through. And we knew that your hope through is hope through rolling with the changes. That's your whole MO, right?

SPEAKER_00:

Perfectly summed up. I loved it.

SPEAKER_01:

So that makes sense. Something I hadn't thought about before is that when it's cold where I live in the United States, right, you're around here. But maybe when it's our summer and it's cold in like Australia, then maybe you're there because you go wherever it's cold. Is that right?

SPEAKER_00:

Exactly. You roll again, roll with the changes and the adaptation of what the need is where you are.

SPEAKER_02:

So you're pretty well traveled then. You've you've seen the world. I've seen it all. I've seen it all. And you've seen it all, but yet you maintain your very positive outlook. How do you do that, Frosty? There's a lot of stuff that goes on in this world, but you're always filled with this holiday joy. How do you do it?

SPEAKER_00:

You know, when you you're going through your change of seasons, the way I always look at it is this is my now and not my forever. So when I'm in a season where it's a little warm, I remind myself, uh, you know, this is my now, not my forever. And there we'll get back and we'll readjust. But that doesn't mean that it's always gonna be the forever. We're gonna have the moments of the now.

SPEAKER_02:

That is incredibly wise, Frosty. For somebody made out of snow, that is pretty darn wise. I love it.

SPEAKER_01:

Wise and very hopeful, right? It it sounds just very hopeful, like whatever is happening. And I I am gonna say there's some crazy things that go on in this world, and to know that just as this is just the right now, it's not forever, that gives a little a little feeling of hope.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. Yeah. I I mean that one's gonna stay with me. That's that's some good, there's some good wisdom in that. So, Frosty, what gives you hope?

SPEAKER_00:

Oh gosh, what gives me hope is the love of others. Living with the mindset of how we how we treat one another is how we will be treated. And that gives me hope is you know, we're in a new wave of a younger generation that truly knows how to love. And that gives me hope.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02:

And you see that as you travel the world, do you just this younger generation that does have so much love to offer? I mean, they certainly are accepting and open in ways that previous generations maybe haven't always exactly.

SPEAKER_00:

I've gotten to meet quite a bit of young people from around the world, and and like I said, they just are open, as you said, to new people, new experiences.

SPEAKER_01:

And I think we live in a world where they have a little bit more access than before to be able to have a bit more empathy in ways other generations happening to so how do you, because you are moving around a lot and seeing all sorts of different people and cultures, how do you make that soul connection with all of the people you come into contact with?

SPEAKER_00:

Oh, it's the magic of trusting. You have to trust, you have to be open to being, you know, personable with people to get to know people.

SPEAKER_02:

Were you always that way, Frosty? Like that, did you always just have it in you to be open and trusting like that?

SPEAKER_00:

You know, it it takes a special kind of touch to get there, but it's nothing that a little training that all of us can do to get there.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. And obviously you've done that because you are beloved around the world and people everywhere know you and love you. So you've obviously done really well with your outreach and your openness to people everywhere.

SPEAKER_00:

I think, you know, again, it's all the magic is all the hands of the young people when we roll with the changes that they create. So when they're out there after a nice snowfall, putting the all together, putting a family all together, it's all in the magic of their hands.

SPEAKER_02:

Who knew that you were such a deep thinker, Frosty? I love it.

unknown:

I love it.

SPEAKER_01:

I I'm curious because you know, so many are drawn to you and inspired by you. And even this idea of just kind of rolling with the changes, I think that's inspirational for me. And I think for you too, Donna. I'm curious, Frosty, who inspires you?

SPEAKER_00:

I think we find a little bit of inspiration in everyone. You know, each snowman is not made from a single solid block of ice, it comes from each particular snowfall. So if you think of people as snowflakes and snowfalls, you you collect them as you go and you shape yourself into who you are. That's where the inspiration comes from, the little bits of pieces that you roll together from the people that you meet.

SPEAKER_02:

I love that. You know, it's kind of part of our concept here in Soul Sistories is that, you know, everybody has a story, and that story is worth hearing and worth sharing. And it sounds like what you're saying is right in line with that, that there is inspiration everywhere and from everyone if you're open to it.

SPEAKER_00:

Exactly. You have to know Snowflake is made the same. Every snowflake has a different shape.

SPEAKER_02:

And every snowflake is worth knowing, right?

SPEAKER_00:

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02:

That's good stuff, Rosty.

SPEAKER_01:

So, boy, now I've got me thinking. I didn't realize this was going to be like this philosophical discussion today, but it it makes me think about then as you change, right? As you develop and and grow from whatever you were with the last snowfall, right? That that there's like new pieces to you all the time. Like exactly you're always changing.

SPEAKER_00:

It's not just that's the beauty in who we are, is that we're a constant evolution. We never stop growing, we never stop changing. We're always picking new pieces to develop a new piece of ourselves at whatever age you are.

SPEAKER_02:

So if we take that a step further, what you're saying then is you know, whatever mistakes we make, we constantly have an opportunity to, you know, make amends where we've hurt somebody, or find a new way of doing something that maybe has better, more hopeful results. That there's there's constant opportunity to grow and change.

SPEAKER_00:

Always. Every season has its own opportunity, and with that, every day is a new one. What happened, who you are yesterday, is not who you are today. Who you are right now is not who you will be two, three months down the line.

SPEAKER_02:

Frosty, I already loved you, and now I'm I'm loving you even more. You're an amazing guy.

SPEAKER_00:

I love you. I love you.

SPEAKER_02:

Aw, thanks.

SPEAKER_01:

I'm curious if you have a life philosophy, Frosty. Like, is there a motto that you have or um something that you live by?

SPEAKER_00:

There's two. There's two that I like to live by. The first one is to live your life to the fullest and make a difference along the way. And the second one is to be who you needed when you were younger. I love and as you get older, that younger could be when you were five, when you were 10, when you were 15, when you were 20. Be who you needed when you were younger.

SPEAKER_02:

So, with that in mind, right now, in this phase of your life, who are which version of you, which age of you are you most being what that person needed? Does that make sense?

SPEAKER_00:

It makes sense. I think for me personally, right now, in the place that I am, I tried to be who my 10-year-old self needed. That that awkward age of sixth grade into seventh grade.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

Switching from one teacher to multiple teachers.

SPEAKER_02:

Oh, that can be so unsettling.

SPEAKER_00:

Especially for a young person.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. Yeah. And you feeling that uncertainty. I can see where your love and acceptance and your modeling of just living your authentic self, how that can be such a help to so many people. And for sure, our 10-year-olds out there can get so much from this.

SPEAKER_01:

And sorry, I was just going to say that. What a neat thing, because it's showing up in a way that you need it, which is helpful for you even today, even though you're not 10, but also being able to show up like that for all of the 10-year-olds and probably others that are going through some of that awkward, you know, stage, um, to be there for them also, you know, showing up for yourself, but also in doing that, you're showing up for others.

SPEAKER_00:

It heal it heals a piece in you while you do the work.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. And you said to live your life to the fullest and make a difference. So really making a difference in so many lives.

SPEAKER_00:

Exactly.

SPEAKER_02:

So, Frosty, here's the thing. We always ask people on Soul Sistories, like how they hope to be remembered, but you we know go on and on and on forever. What is that legacy that you hope each generation takes from you?

SPEAKER_00:

You know, I hope I leave something actually very simple. I hope I leave a smile. I hope when people think of frosty, they smile.

SPEAKER_02:

I think mission accomplished, my friend. I know I do. I smile for sure. Thank you for that.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, and there's something about even during the months that we don't see so much, there's something about, and you said, Donna, the frostiness, the coldness, but there's something so warm when you think about Frosty, right? It is this feeling of like being wrapped in a big scarf and having a big cup of hot cocoa, even though Frosty, you're so cold and we have to keep you so cold, but we get to have so much warmth just being around you.

SPEAKER_02:

Appreciate it. I think uh I think cozy is a word. Frosty is very cozy. Makes me feel cozy. So shall we ask Frosty some rapid fire questions?

SPEAKER_00:

Let's do rapid fire.

SPEAKER_02:

Nice.

SPEAKER_01:

Away from fire though. I don't know if fire is.

SPEAKER_00:

Uh-oh. Uh-oh.

SPEAKER_01:

Rapid question. So jump in, Frosty, with the first one. If you were walking onto the stage, um, music is blaring, what would be your walk-in song?

SPEAKER_00:

See, everyone thinks I want to say the song about me, but the holiday song that comes to mind is Slay Ride by the Rondett's. That opening jingling of the bells just tickles something in in the snow for me.

SPEAKER_02:

That's a great song, too. I love it. Okay, Frosty, what book changed you?

SPEAKER_00:

So Frosty loves to read pink books, and there is a book out there called The Shift by Tinks. And if anyone out there is in an area in their life where they feel like they are struggling with um empowering themselves, need some help in the and motivation in the dating realm, this book is perfect because it helps us shift the mindset of putting ourselves as the main characters of our lives.

SPEAKER_02:

Wow, Frosty. We're going deep.

SPEAKER_00:

The shift by Tinks, a beautiful pink book. I love pink books.

SPEAKER_01:

That's so fun. What movie lives rep-free in your brain?

SPEAKER_00:

Christmas Vacation. The Griswolds. Frosty to watch that movie all year round. Frosty could see it a million times and still laugh at every single joke.

SPEAKER_02:

What did you love doing as a little snowflake, Frosty, as a kid, that you love doing to this day?

SPEAKER_00:

Well, you know, Frosty was very privileged that he grew up in a very theatrical world and had some incredible mentors along the way. And now the role has flipped where Frosty gets to be the mentor. And that's what makes it fun.

SPEAKER_02:

And Frosty, I've been hearing about a lot of the work that you're doing, and it is some good good stuff.

SPEAKER_00:

Means a lot hearing that from you.

SPEAKER_01:

I love that because what I'm hearing though is that you were inspired as a little one, and now you're able to just kind of jump into that and continue to inspire the younger generations.

SPEAKER_00:

Exactly. You know, I I have this phrase that I like to live by when when you don't wait for a seat at the table, you make a seat for yourself, and while you're there, you start setting out the mats for everybody else. And that's what Frosty tries to live by.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah, Frosty, you're my hero. That's really nice stuff.

SPEAKER_00:

Thank you.

SPEAKER_01:

I like all that.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

So, Frosty, what in your world is lighting you up right now?

SPEAKER_00:

I think what is lighting me up in my world right now is my family. There's there's no deeper bond than a sister, a brother. That is what's been lighting up my world.

SPEAKER_02:

And I hear you have a new little snowflake in your world, huh?

SPEAKER_00:

Frosty has a new nephew that Frosty can't stop talking about.

SPEAKER_02:

That's so fun. And is your little nephew as chilly, warm, cool as you are?

SPEAKER_00:

That is the warmest baby ever. Oh with the biggest cold smile you'll ever see.

SPEAKER_02:

That's awesome. That's awesome. Well, congratulations. I know that you're gonna be, that you are an amazing uncle, and that that little one is gonna light up your world. Thank you. Is it my question or yours, sis? I lost track. Is it me? Okay, Frosty. What color is hope?

SPEAKER_00:

Hope is hairywinkle purple. Hope is hope is it's not vibrant, but it's comforting. That's where the heriwinkle comes into play.

SPEAKER_01:

And and it feels when I see that color, it feels like consistent and not like oh, it's in your face, but it's just consistent. It's it's like a hug.

SPEAKER_02:

It's a hug. It gives me a very nice feeling.

SPEAKER_01:

Well What does hope sound like then?

SPEAKER_00:

Oh, children's laughter. Children's laughter. And not and not a silly little giggle. It's the it's the screech you hear when they're playing on the playground.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah. All right, Frosty, complete this statement. Family is full of love.

SPEAKER_00:

Family is full of love.

SPEAKER_01:

How about this one? Existence is.

SPEAKER_00:

Existence is what you make of it.

SPEAKER_02:

Frosty laying down the truth bombs. I love it. And how about rolling with changes is rolling with changes is seeing your storms and waiting for the rainbow.

SPEAKER_01:

Yes. And I'm gonna add, and it's knowing that the rainbow's coming.

SPEAKER_00:

Exactly.

SPEAKER_01:

I like it.

SPEAKER_00:

You have to see rain in order to see a rainbow.

SPEAKER_01:

No other way.

SPEAKER_00:

No other way. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

How about this one then? Hope is. Fill in the blank. Hope is.

SPEAKER_00:

Hope is coming.

SPEAKER_01:

Hope is coming.

SPEAKER_02:

Always, always, always. Frosty, this has just been so magical. We've just loved, loved, love talking with you. And you certainly have made my spirits bright, for sure. How can um, gosh, because you're all over the place, right? How can people find you if they want to see more of you?

SPEAKER_00:

Well, it's simple. You wait for the first snowfall, you go out there and you start rolling.

SPEAKER_02:

And and do we need them, do we need the magic hat or do we just need to believe?

SPEAKER_00:

You gotta believe, and it doesn't help, it doesn't hurt to have the old silk hat, the corn cobpipe, the button nose, and the eyes of coal.

SPEAKER_02:

Okay. All right, everybody, get ready, watch for that snow, get your stuff ready. And then, you know, look just like Ted Lasso tells us, believe.

SPEAKER_00:

Believe, yes. You know, Frosty loves Ted Lasso.

SPEAKER_02:

Well, I would see you guys have a lot in common.

SPEAKER_00:

Go be the goldfish. Exactly.

SPEAKER_02:

Frosty, thank you. We love you, and um, we hope that everybody can listen to this message and just get filled up with that holiday spirit, just like we are.

SPEAKER_00:

Thank you so much for having me. And I hope everyone has a happy, happy, happy holiday.
